Feeling overwhelmed by anxiety is a common experience that many of us face in our daily lives. Fortunately, there are various strategies we can employ to alleviate its grip on our minds and regain a sense of calm. One such powerful tool is journaling, which provides a safe and private space to explore thoughts, emotions, and fears. In this post, you can find some prompts to assist you in journaling when you are dealing with anxiety. Whether you are new to journaling or a seasoned writer, these prompts will guide you on a transformative journey towards self-discovery, resilience, and inner peace.

Prompts

  • Did you feel stressed or anxious today? If so, what triggered that feeling and what did you do to overcome it?
  • What is one way you can adjust your morning and night time routines?
  • Make a list of 5 good things that happened today.
  • It can be calming to write the same sentence repeatedly. What do you need? Write that in one sentence. For example – “Breathe in. Breathe out.” or “I am safe.”
  • List the pros and cons of what would happen if you moved forward with whatever you are anxious about.
  • What would it look like if you had control over your anxiety? What does it look like when anxiety has control over you?
  • If you woke up tomorrow and all your anxiety was *POOF* gone, what would you be able to do differently?
  • Write out all of your anxious thoughts that are consuming you currently.
  • What are 5 things you are grateful for today?
  • What are 3 coping skills you can use when you are feeling anxious and that you know work for you?
